Cookie loaches

A lecture by me, as you might already know.

Where they live: The marshymallow swamps of Candyland.

How rare: Quite rare. Only found in Candyland.

Colors: Colored to blend into cookies. If you don’t know what cookies look like, they are warm and usually a chocolate brown.

Taste: Cookie loaches taste like cookies, as you might already know by their name.

Eat: Cookie loaches eat marshmallows from the marshymallow swamps. The kids pull the mallow roots up with their jaws. The roots are dragged to there mother and the mother bakes them in their kitchens. ( yes, cookie loach mothers own kitchens. You will learn more about the interior design of their home in a jiff.) Their favorite food is a cookie, thought those are hard to find if no children are around throwing cookies at them in every direction.

Interior of home: Cookie loach homes are dug underground. The hidden entrance ways are kept very secret. If you know where one is, it’s just the luck of the Irish. ( if you’re not Irish, I have no explanation.) When they enter the doors or secret entrance ways, they usually end up in the kitchen, where the mother cookie loach is usually cooking up something sweet. If they dig up a little farther, they will discover the sleeping chambers where the babies are born and where the cookie loaches quite obviously sleep. Dig up a tiny smidge farther and you will discover the most unpleasant place in the whole house: the bathroom. It is never cleaned and smells like a ding beetle’s home. ( don’t peek your head inside, what I am saying is true!) Dig up even farther and you will find an exit way, to where you may get out.

The basic life of a cookie loach:

A cookie loach is born in a chocolate chip cookie way up in a sleeping chamber. At 3 weeks, they leave the chamber and enter the beloved kitchen. The girl cookie loaches learn how to cook like their mother’s and also learn how to provide for a family. The boy cookie loaches leave the home and gather mallow roots to bring to their mother so she can make a marshmallow pie as usual. A cookie loach is full grown in 1 month. The boy cookie loaches leave their home to find a mate for life. They never return home. Once the males have found a mate, they stay at the mate’s home until the female gives birth. Then the male leaves to go mate with another female, all this mating keeps the population healthy! The females, well, they have a different story. They dig a tunnel connecting their home to their mother’s home. Usually, the sisters all live together in the same house. Their scent attracts males who they mate with and have babies who grow up and start the cycle all over again. Now cookie loaches don’t live forever. After around 3 years, a cookie loach dies and leaves her home for an unwanted male cookie loach to live in. As for her babies, they keep the cycle going.

Interesting fact: Cookie loaches are really made of cookie. ( well, parts of them!)

The Pegagerbils [Pronounced: Peg-ah-JER-bils]

These are normal gerbils, if you ignore the fact that they have bony wings upon their back and come only in the color black. Pet stores in Terabithia often carry these small rodents, called pegagerbils. Pegagerbils are found in the wide wheat meadows of Catan everywhere, mainly coming from Terabithia. They are not found anywhere else. Because of their habitat, they eat mainly wheat and  grains but also enjoy seeds and fruit if they can find it. Their predators are pheonixes mainly and other large birds. If you decide to take a pegagerbil home, you are in for a surprise. Their wings are not for show: you may find your pegagerbil flying around the house! Also, upon a few commands, a well trained pegagerbil will shape shift into something. Be careful: if your pegagerbil is not happy or doesn't have enough energy, he may turn to a pile of ashes. But don't worry! Pegagerbils are known to rise from the ashes, come back from the dead. How did such a strange creature come to be? A French man named Sir Jickin (a popular name among the Terabithians) crossed a pegasus and a gerbil and voila! got a pegagerbil. Today many people have pegagerbils as their popularity is rising. I hope to have  a picture of a pegagerbil soon!
